Pretoria and a taste of Turkey Tour Summary:
From the hotel in Johannesburg, clients are transported to one of South Africa’s Capital cities – Pretoria. Here clients will visit the historical Voortrekker Monument, a commemoration of the pioneering Voortrekker Afrikaner people who left the Colonies of the Cape in the 1800’s.
The second stop in Pretoria is at the Union Buildings, which is home to one of South Africa’s three capitals. It forms the official seat of the national government and houses the offices of the South African president. Returning from Pretoria to Johannesburg, clients get to experience authentic Ottoman Turkey as we stop at the spectacular Nizamiye Masjid in Midrand for salaah and a short tour.
Set on 10 hectares of land, the Masjid was built at a cost of several hundred million rands and is a smaller replica of the Selimiye Camii mosque in Edirne, Turkey. It is the first Ottoman-style mosque as well as the biggest masjid in the Southern Hemisphere.
The remainder of the afternoon will be at client’s leisure at Sandton City Shopping Centre and Nelson Mandela Square, one of Africa’s leading and most prestigious shopping centres which has close to 300 leading local and international retailers – international shopping with South African flair. Overlooking all of the stores is a towering 6 metre bronze statue of South Africa’s iconic first President, Nelson Mandela.
